Justice for Hoss Lightning: Support Through Solidarity and Action
We are Indigenous peoples, artists, and allies, united in grief and outrage over the senseless and tragic death of 15-year-old Hoss Lightning, a Cree youth who was killed by the RCMP in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
Hoss, scared and alone, was worried someone was following him, so called 911 for help, only to be met with violence by the very people sworn to protect him.
The RCMP claim he had weapons, yet have released no details, leaving many unanswered questions. This lack of transparency is all too common in Canada, where Indigenous lives are often devalued and justice is delayed or denied.
Hoss’ death is not an isolated incident. It is part of a long and painful history of systemic racism and violence against Indigenous peoples in Canada, especially youth. This injustice must not be buried. We refuse to let this story fade into silence.
What We Are Doing:
In response to Hoss’ tragic death, we are organizing to raise awareness, demand justice, and support his family. Orange has long represented the movement to honor Indigenous children and challenge the systemic violence and neglect they face.
All proceeds from the sale of these shirts in this year, 2024, will go directly to Hoss Lightning’s family, to support them in their fight for justice.
"A candlelight vigil was in the works with Lightning’s family, Swampy-Omeasoo said, adding, “The family respectfully ask for those that wish to hold a vigil/protest/rally to please kindly approach the matriarchs of the family first.”
We hope to get in touch soon, yet this is not a vigil/protest/rally where we are asking people to gather in Hoss' name.
This is a much larger and repetitive issue in Canada, that hits fonzdot in his own PTSD, due to calling 911 for help, and being assaulted and hospitalized by RCMP in Alberta.
We are increasing the cost of our Orange Shirts, as there was no profit margin. We also need to get in touch with the Swampy-Omeasoo family to ensure we can send the funds directly to them, without any colonial company taking a cut. If you are an Indigenous clothing producer and wish to help with more applicable merchandise to raise funds, instead of our outsourced comedic shirts for our grandmother, we would love to hear from you to get more organized.
How You Can Help
Spread the Word:
Share Hoss’ story on social media, talk to your community, and use your voice to demand accountability from the RCMP and Canadian government. The more awareness we raise, the harder it will be for authorities to ignore the call for justice.
Stand with Us in the Fight for Change:
This isn’t just about one incident. We are demanding real change in Canada’s policing practices and an end to the violence inflicted on Indigenous communities. Join us in pushing for reforms that ensure accountability, transparency, and the protection of Indigenous lives.
Why This Matters:
We are fighting for more than justice for Hoss Lightning—we are fighting to end the ongoing violence against Indigenous peoples in Canada. Every step toward justice helps ensure that no more Indigenous children are lost to this broken system. The lack of mainstream media coverage and silence surrounding Hoss’ death makes grassroots efforts like ours even more critical.
The time for change is long overdue. By standing together—Indigenous and non-Indigenous people alike—we can create a movement that demands accountability and paves the way for a future where Indigenous lives are valued and protected.

In honor of Gladys Lizotte (Paul/Billy), a survivor of the Canadian Residential School system and fonz.'s grandmother, we are dedicated to carrying forward her legacy of resilience and strength.

Huge thanks to Gordon for getting her back to her mother (Left).
"In consideration of intergenerational traumas and as a gesture of respect towards Clement and John Paul, as well as Lillian and Gladys Lizotte for their efforts to disengage from systemic constraints, 'fonzdot' has chosen to remain unregistered and non-status. This decision is made in the belief that voluntarily rejoining any list would be contrary to the well-being and legacy of the family."
"We trust that your drinking water meets stringent quality standards, free from substances such as fluoride, neurotoxins, endocrine disruptors, contaminants, impurities, necropsies, and fecal matter."
